About the Client:
We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a 73-year-old woman in Scarborough who recently experienced a back fracture with bulging discs. She has severe mobility limitations due to osteoporosis and chronic pain, requiring a walker for movement. While cognitively sharp and independent-minded, she needs support with daily activities she can no longer safely manage alone. She lives in an apartment building and values her independence, though she's adjusting to accepting help. This is her first time receiving structured care. Please note: she smokes in her apartment, though she's willing to step outside when requested.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with bathing and personal hygiene
- Support mobility and transfers (getting up/down, walking with walker)
- Prepare nutritious meals (she enjoys cooking but cannot stand for long periods)
- Light housekeeping and tidying
- Medication monitoring and reminders (critical due to pain management concerns)
- Provide companionship and social engagement
- Occasional transportation to medical appointments when scheduled during visit times
- Laundry assistance (building has shared facilities)
What We're Looking For:
- Female caregiver preferred
- Experience with mobility assistance and walker support
- Comfortable with personal care and bathing assistance
- Patient, calm demeanor with seniors who value independence
- Strong communication skills with family members
- Reliable and consistent
- Takes initiative while respecting client autonomy
- English-speaking
- Comfortable in smoking environment
- Valid driver's license for occasional appointments
Schedule:
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 2 hours per visit, between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. She's a late riser and night owl, so mid-day visits work best. Flexibility for appointment transportation appreciated. Start date as soon as possible following hospital discharge.
