We're looking for a dependable and self-motivated Casual Handyman to support our growing short-term rental property. You'll play an important role in helping our operations run smoothly by handling minor maintenance tasks and supporting our turnover team.
Our cleaning and turnover staff are primarily women, so we're looking for someone who enjoys being a reliable support person for heavier tasks, maintenance issues, and unexpected situations that arise throughout the day.
Responsibilities
- Minor repairs and general handyman work
- Basic troubleshooting of appliances and household equipment
- Garbage and recycling runs
- Picking up and delivering supplies or replacement items on occasion
- Furniture assembly and small installations
- Replacing light fixtures, smoke detector batteries, locks, faucets, and other basic maintenance items
- Assisting with occasional property setup and staging, building furniture, painting
- Responding to urgent maintenance requests as they arise
- Trips to the dump when required (if truck available)
Requirements
- Experience with general home maintenance and repairs
- Own set of hand and power tools
- Valid driver's licence and reliable vehicle
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
- Flexible availability (our industry can be unpredictable, and schedules change quickly)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Professional, trustworthy, and dependable
Bonus Qualifications
- Own pickup truck or trailer for transporting furniture, supplies, and dump runs
- Experience with basic plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, or carpentry
- Previous experience in property maintenance, facilities, construction, or renovations
Schedule
- Approximately 25 hours per week
- Casual/Flexible position
- Hours vary based on maintenance needs and property turnovers
- Some evenings or weekends may occasionally be required
Compensation
Compensation will be based on experience, skill set, and available equipment. Candidates with a truck or trailer who can assist with moving items and dump runs will receive additional consideration for higher compensation.
Service Area
Our properties are located throughout Ottawa, Navan, Nepean, and surrounding communities, so travel between properties is a regular part of the role.
