Job Title: Assignment Editor, Unifor 723M
Status: Temporary - Full Time
Salary: Group E - Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week - involves shift work including weekends and evenings
Location: 299 Queen Street West, Toronto
Assigning staff and resources for the production of Toronto and GTA focused stories for CP24
Generating story and event ideas
Taking part in the daily and long term planning of news coverage
Act as a liaison with local stations, other networks and agencies
Other duties include: assisting in breaking news coverage, booking guests for CP24 chats/noon show/special events, booking feeds, greeting guests, developing contacts
Other duties as assigned
Post-secondary or College degree in Journalism
In-depth knowledge of local/domestic news and current affairs
Experience in dealing breaking news coverage
Excellent organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines and prioritize
Computer skills – knowledge of iNews an asset
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Experience directing staff
Ability to work in a team, motivate staff and personally set the highest professional journalism standards
A broad general knowledge of television technology particularly in the digital world
Strong social media skills
Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
