The Opportunity
As a bridge engineer, you will work on a diverse range of projects, including new bridge design, rehabilitation, and structural assessments for public and private sector clients. You will have the opportunity to contribute across all project phases including feasibility, detailed design and construction. This will provide opportunity to continue developing your technical expertise and growing into a leadership role
Key responsibilities
Technical Design and Analysis

Perform preliminary and detailed structural design, including 2D and 3D analysis for bridges, foundations, retaining walls and related structures.

Develop structure drawings, details, specifications and construction plans

Prepare proposals, technical reports, tenders and contracts documents.
Project Delivery & Coordination

Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors to deliver integrated, high quality project solutions.

Support or lead project delivery, including scope development, scheduling, budgeting and resource planning.

Monitor project progress to ensure alignment with timelines, budgets and quality standards.
Review, construction and Field work

Conduct design reviews and quality checks of drawings, calculations and deliverables.

Provide construction phase support, including RFIs, shop drawing reviews and site visits.

Perform inspections, field reviews and condition assessments and prepare engineering reports.
Leadership & Client Engagement

Support or lead project teams and act as a point of contact for clients and stakeholders.

Contribute to proposal development, including scope development and cost estimates.

Mentor junior engineers, technologists and technicians.

Build and maintain strong client relationships and support ongoing business development.
What you bring
Qualifications
-
Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.

Professional designation (P.Eng. or P.L.(Eng.)) in Alberta (or eligibility).

5+ years of experience in bridge engineering in a consulting environment.

Strong knowledge of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC).
Experience & Skills

Experience in both new bridge design and rehabilitation of existing structures (Steel, concrete and timber).

Proficiency with structural analysis software, AutoCAD and MS Office.

Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.

Strong communication skill (written and verbal).

Interest in mentoring and supporting the development of junior staff.
