The Transitions Classrooms is looking for a responsible, reliable, flexible, team minded professional to join our team in the role of Family Counsellor. Reporting to the manager of Collaborative Initiatives, the Family Counsellor is an advanced clinical position and provides mental health and risk assessment, referrals, clinical consultation, intervention, and groups within a school setting, while also acting as a liaison between the school boards and Recovery Alberta. This position is a partnership between Recovery Alberta, the Calgary Board of Education (CBE); and the Calgary Separate School Division (CSSD). The candidate must have strong assessment and therapy skills and the proven ability to provide evidence-based episodic treatment. Participation in program development and evaluation and group supervision is required. Strong collaborative skills, an understanding of partnerships and connection with community partners and the ability to coordinate service delivery with other Recovery Alberta services and staff.
As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Supervised training and 3-5 years experience in Mental Health Assessment and Treatment. Trauma informed training and experience required. Current knowledge and experience using of a range of clinical modalities including individual, family & group intervention is required. Advanced knowledge of DSM V required. Knowledge of community resources required. Experience delivering single-session and/or brief therapy modalities is required. Experience working with clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD and related behavioural, cognitive and social issues required. Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment, intervention, and system navigation and case management required. Demonstrated commitment to Family and Client Centered Care required. Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and organizational skills required. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with community partners. Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams. Must have a calm, warm & engaging style.
Preferred Qualifications:
Trauma intensive training preferred. Level 1&2 training in Collaborative Problem Solving preferred. Experience working in patient engagement and program development preferred. Brain Story Certified preferred. Ability to work independently and meet necessary deadlines. Ability to be flexible and manage change. Experience in program planning, evaluation and/or research preferred.
