We’re looking for a dedicated, proactive Safety Officer to support safe work practices across multiple active construction sites throughout the Lower Mainland. If you’re someone who thrives in a fast-moving field environment and takes pride in keeping people safe, this role is for you.
You’ll be hands-on in the field—conducting site inspections, identifying hazards, supporting training, and ensuring compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and company safety standards. You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Foremen, and site crews to help maintain safe, compliant, and productive job sites.
This is a full-time position with regular travel between active construction sites in all weather conditions.

What You’ll Do
Site Safety & Compliance
- Conduct regular site inspections of worksites, equipment, and work practices
- Identify hazards and complete JHAs (Job Hazard Analyses)
- Support corrective actions to eliminate unsafe conditions and ensure GC compliance
- Assist with PPE management, including issuing, tracking, and respirator fit testing
Incident Support & Reporting
- Support investigations of incidents, accidents, and near-misses
- Help identify root causes and contribute to corrective and preventive actions
- Maintain safety records, inspection reports, training documentation, and equipment logs
- Prepare weekly/monthly safety reports for management
- Submit site inspection reports and corrective recommendations to Project Managers
- Support the company Return-to-Work / Light Duty program and liaise with WorkSafeBC as required
- Report policy violations to Foremen and Project Managers
Training & Safety Culture
- Assist with Toolbox Talks, safety orientations, and site training sessions
- Promote a proactive, positive safety culture across all job sites
- Communicate safety updates and legislative changes to field teams and management
Coordination & Administration
- Support and help coordinate monthly JOSH/JOHS safety meetings (agendas, minutes, follow-ups)
- Liaise with subcontractors to ensure compliance with company safety standards
- Provide general administrative and site support as required
What You Bring
Required / Preferred Qualifications
- Occupational Health & Safety training such as CSO, NCSO, NHSA, or equivalent OHS diploma/certificate (BCIT or accredited institution preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Workers Compensation Act (WCA) and WorkSafeBC OHS Regulation
- Confident, clear communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Calm, diplomatic, and professional in high-pressure field environments
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel between multiple sites daily
Assets That Stand Out
- OFA / First Aid / CPR certification (or First Responder experience)
- Previous construction or scaffolding industry experience
- Experience with incident investigations, JHAs, inspections, and toolbox talks
- Familiarity with JHSC/JOHS participation
- Training in Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platforms, Scissor Lift, or Forklift operation
- Basic computer skills (reporting, documentation, email systems)
- HR or return-to-work / injury management experience
