Site Superintendent - Commercial Construction
Manitoba's skyline doesn't build itself. Our client, a general contractor with over 50 years in the business, is looking for a Site Superintendent who knows how to run a commercial job site and run it well.
Most of your work will keep you here in Winnipeg, with travel to other Manitoba communities, fully covered, when a specific project calls for it.
THE ROLE AT A GLANCE
Take full ownership of commercial builds from mobilization to handover. Direct crews, coordinate subcontractors, and keep the job moving on schedule and on budget. Work alongside a construction team that's been delivering major projects across the province for decades and has the reputation to prove it.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Run on-site operations from start to finish, reporting to the Director of Preconstruction and Construction
- Lead and direct Lead Hands and Labourers to keep every phase on track
- Own the site's safety program and hold subcontractors to the same standard
- Review drawings, specs, and contract documents before problems become delays
- Drive the schedule, spot issues before they cost time, and solve them fast
- Handle contract admin: subcontracts, purchase orders, site instructions, change notices
- Flag design deficiencies and schedule conflicts early and work them through with the team
- Keep subcontractors accountable on safety, scope, and quality
- Run quality control against Inspection Test Plans and keep documentation tight
- Maintain daily field reports, safety inspections, and schedule updates
- Stay current on federal, provincial, and municipal compliance
- Keep clients, consultants, and stakeholders in the loop, always
WHAT YOU BRING
- 4+ years as a Site Superintendent on commercial, institutional, or industrial projects
- A track record of delivering builds worth $1 million or more
- Solid grasp of construction methods, contract drawings, and specs
- Carpentry background and/or Gold Seal Certification is a plus
- Hands-on experience with self-performed work (concrete and carpentry preferred)
- Comfortable in MS Office and MS Project
- The kind of leadership that gets a crew moving in the same direction
- A sharp eye for safety, cost control, and quality from day one to close-out
WHY THIS ROLE
- Competitive pay, travel premiums when you're on the road, and performance incentives
- Full benefits: extended health, dental, retirement plan
- Company-funded tuition and professional development
- Sick and personal days built in
- A team that works hard and actually celebrates the wins together
- Signature commercial projects that'll stand out on your resume
- Real runway to senior leadership as the company keeps growing
