What is the opportunity?

An exciting opportunity within the US Data Office where you will provide data analysis, deliverables and leadership for data sourcing projects in Head Office and US IHC Chief Data Office (CDO) for Royal Bank of Canada and its subsidiaries operating in the US. You will play an instrumental role in developing new ways of conducting data analysis efficiently.

What will you do?

Provide structured approach to eliciting requirements for data sourcing and reporting deliverables and ensure documentation is transparent and auditable
Frames requirements with proper context with stakeholders and manage scope expectations
Partner with Senior Manager to define data analysis work effort as well as provide status as required
Seek innovative and improved methods to conduct business and data analysis efficiently including use of new data analytics tools
Collaborates with other USDO work streams and Head Office programs regarding cross-functional dependencies and execution of overall data sourcing strategy
Understand the client’s business and translates client vision into high level scope and data design
Manages detailed data requirements: identifying, tracking and resolving data related issues
Assesses, researches, analyzes and documents sponsor/stakeholder needs
Leads the analysis of data issues, incorporating quantitative and qualitative factors to evaluate analysis and lead the project to the most appropriate conclusions
Leverages technical skills to develop, customize or implement data analysis investigation tools and solutions
Contributes to test case creation; ensuring that test cases are tightly integrated with data requirements specifications
Recommends business solutions that satisfy sponsor/stakeholder needs while continually exploring and assessing options for value-add for clients
Contributes to the development and execution of testing including coordinating system and acceptance testing
Reviews defects arising from testing, including User Acceptance Testing, and works with stakeholders to resolve them
Effectively communicates and builds rapport with team members, stakeholders, business and IT partners and collaborate from initiation to close and facilitate meetings when required.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Business or Computer Science / Engineering
7-10 years of experience in Financial Services industry with significant deliverables in data-related projects
Proven track record of delivery of large scale data-related projects and change the bank initiatives
Data requirements: interviewing, facilitation, gap analysis, data analysis, business process mapping, user interface design and mock-up
Understanding of data governance and data quality concepts and processes
Knowledge of data integration, data quality reporting, and exception resolution processes
Understanding of RDBMS concepts and SQL
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills
Knowledge of Next Gen Tools & Environments (Machine learning, Hadoop, etc)
Process/Workflow mapping tools such as MS Visio
Nice to have

Understanding of functional and control areas in Banking/Capital Markets
Knowledge of Banking, Retail and Trading Products
Knowledge of FBO & OSFI regulatory reporting requirements such as CCAR, Y-9C, Call Reports and Regulatory capital requirements.
