AIS Technologies is currently recruiting an Automation Design Group Leader for our Windsor, Ontario Division. Position is full time, steady days, reporting to the Engineering Manager. Candidate must have minimum 10 years’ experience designing assembly automation equipment and have been employed in a leadership role within an organization. The successful candidate will experience a high energy, fast paced work environment that’s both competitive and rewarding. We are looking for someone who possesses strong organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to lead upwards of 5 skilled Designers in productively designing automation equipment. Ability to provide quality equipment, while meeting deadlines, staying within budget and maintaining a pleasant work environment for staff is crucial.

Position Responsibilities:
-Concept, design and detail as required on jobs assigned to your group
-Direct the component selection vs the budget to increase profitability on jobs
-Plan and prepare for jobs by reviewing the timeline and schedule with the Engineering Manager
-Schedule work to the design team and evaluate the job progress relative to the due date
-Participate in customer and internal design reviews
-Work directly with Program Management to resolve issues
-Manage and track open issues related to the design process
-Ensure all changes on the shop floor are updated in the Mechanical Design from information provided to your department for updating
-Complete all non-conformance tracking as per our ISO requirements
-Assist in de-bugging machines when required after final assembly
-Travel as required throughout North America for meetings
-Track deviations from customer spec and our quote
-Check final design and BOM
-Ensure our design matches the quote breakdown sheet
-Maintain standard components and EPDM library

Minimum Qualifications:
-High school diploma along with post-secondary education relating to the field
-10 years’ experience as an Automation Designer
-Ability to provide direction and lead a team while meeting project deadlines and maintaining budget
-Valid license and passport for travel within North America
-Experience in Machine Tool, Robotics, Welding Cells, automotive interior component and exterior class “A” assembly would be beneficial
-High level of understanding Controls Systems, Pneumatics & Hydraulics
-Basic knowledge such as Tool & Die, Fixture & Gauge and Mold Making would be an asset
-Experienced with SolidWorks, AutoCAD and 3D CAD design software
-Experienced with blueprint reading/GD&T
-Excel as a leader, mentor and team player
-Highly organized
