Overview:
At Morgan, we don’t just build projects, we build careers and futures! Join us as a PROJECT SCHEDULER - HEAVY CIVIL and play a pivotal role in our dynamic world of heavy civil construction!
We are currently accepting applications to support multiple projects with our clients across Canada.
Position Summary
The Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing integrated, resource-loaded, and cost-loaded project schedules in Oracle Primavera P6 and/or Oracle Primavera Cloud (OPC) across Morgan's portfolio of heavy civil, mining, and infrastructure projects. This is a hands-on planning role that works directly with estimating, operations, and site leadership to translate execution strategy into credible, defensible baseline schedules — and to keep those schedules current, accurate, and contractually compliant through execution.
Morgan's schedules are increasingly a contract deliverable in their own right: owners on major projects require multi-level integrated baseline schedules (Level 1 through Level 4), full resource and cost loading, earned value structures, Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) alignment, and quantified schedule quality standards, including DCMA 14-Point Assessment compliance. The Scheduler is the technical owner of that deliverable — from baseline development through progress updates, forecasting, change and delay analysis, and baseline approval packages that stand up to owner, lender, and board-level scrutiny.
-
Develop and manage integrated project schedules for large-scale heavy civil construction projects using Primavera P6.
-
Work closely with project managers, engineers, estimators, procurement, and construction teams to build realistic project execution plans.
-
Create and maintain project schedules covering engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project turnover.
-
Track project progress, update schedules, analyze variances, and identify potential risks or delays.
-
Monitor critical path activities and provide recommendations to keep projects on schedule.
-
Develop resource-loaded schedules including workforce, equipment, and material planning.
-
Support project controls functions including cash flow forecasting, earned value reporting, and performance tracking.
-
Evaluate schedule impacts from changes, delays, and unforeseen events, and develop recovery plans where required.
-
Prepare schedule reports, forecasts, and executive-level updates for project leadership and clients.
-
Participate in project planning sessions, risk reviews, and schedule review meetings throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
-
5+ years of scheduling/planning experience in heavy civil, mining, earthworks, or infrastructure construction, with demonstrated ownership of project schedules from baseline through closeout.
-
Advanced, hands-on proficiency in Oracle Primavera P6 (Professional and/or EPPM), including resource and cost loading, multiple float paths, global changes, and baseline management. Experience with Oracle Primavera Cloud (OPC) is required or must be developed quickly; candidates strong in one platform and conversant in the other will be considered.
-
Proven experience building resource-loaded and cost-loaded schedules tied to quantities, production rates, and cost/control account structures.
-
Working knowledge of scheduling fundamentals: CPM logic, total float and critical path analysis, calendars, constraints, lags/leads discipline, and schedule levels (L1–L4).
-
Strong Excel skills for quantity, production, histogram, and cash flow analysis; ability to move data cleanly between P6 and reporting tools.
-
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract schedule requirements, and to translate contract language into schedule structure and reporting obligations.
-
Strong communication skills — able to facilitate planning sessions with superintendents and defend schedule logic with owners' project controls teams.
-
Legally able to work in Canada; ability to travel to and work at remote project sites in Canada and the United States (camp-based rotations where required).
