Central Supply Room (CSR) Technician

  • Ensures that Infection Control procedures are implemented and monitored in all aspects of activities to ascertain sterility
  • Assembles, sterilizes, distributes and stores instruments/supplies and other equipment as required to nursing units and various departments
  • Checks instruments and reports to CP or Dept. Manager any that require repair/replacement or malfunctioning of any equipment
  • Loads cart in autoclave, when processed trays and bundles are cool, unloads cart and maintains all documents for sterilizing of instruments, bundles and trays
  • Understands the concept of sterility and biological testing and do these daily
  • Maintains sterile supplies in current form (sterile), checks for compromised items continuously in all areas on a daily basis
  • Inspects, wraps and folds linen and bundles as required for use of OR and nursing units rotates supplies/bundles as per Standards and procedures
  • Monitors and records new and used linen and maintains daily records of # of linen/bundle prepared
  • Overlooks department activities and assumes responsibilities when CP is away (full time technician not on a modified program)
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Must possess a current Central Services Techniques Course Certificate (Renewal required every 5 years, as per CSAO standard)
  • Candidates without a Central Services Techniques Certificate will be considered secondary to those with current certification and will be required to complete Certification within 6 months of being awarded the position, if selected
  • Secondary school diploma


  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet

  • Ability to work in all assigned areas
  • Ability to work weekends and shift work

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills


  • Ability to speak French
  • Previous or current experience in an MDR department

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $20.40 to $21.06 /day
