The Foam Mold Assembly & Repair Technician will be responsible for assembling new foam molds and tooling and setting them up for production. A critical function of this role is the ability to spot and fit mold surfaces to achieve optimal seal-off and minimize flash. They will also repair and maintain currently running foam molds and tooling to ensure they remain in proper working order during production and offline. This position requires a moldmaker or toolmaker skillset. Report directly to the Foam Manager on a daily basis and keep up with build and repair schedules.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assemble new foam molds and tooling per engineering drawings and specifications, including air switches, air lines, autovents, hinges and locking mechanisms.
- Spot and fit mold surfaces using blueing (Prussian Blue) layout techniques to identify high spots and achieve optimal seal-off with minimal flash — a critical function of this role.
- Set up new tooling for production, including new mold validation.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues on currently running foam molds and tooling.
- Repair or replace worn tool seals as needed on running molds
- Ensure each mold produces the best possible part free of voids and surface defects.
- Keep updated foam tool inventories and mold build records.
- Record PM’s and work performed.
- Possible travel to the US and Mexico for setup and repair issues
Knowledge And Education
- High School Diploma or Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent
- Post-Secondary Education in a Technical Field
- Manufacturing, maintenance experience
- Maintenance experience Foam - Tooling
- Experience directly related hands-on moldmaking/tooling combined with relevant high school, college, or industry courses
