Provide reliable and effective underwriting support to handle inbound business requests from our foreign producing offices for locally admitted policies in Canada in support of a multinational master program. Placement requests are primarily for property, casualty and supporting lines of business. The individual will act within delegated Authority, providing the highest standards of accurate administration and excellent service delivery. The individual will liaise directly with Underwriters from foreign offices to establish the account entry within CNA systems including CNA ComPass for issuing quotes/policies/endorsements and/or responses & escalations in a timely manner.
The role also involves responding to queries in addition to being responsible for Billings and Collections query resolution.

Key Responsibilities
- Hold Underwriting Authority and be a technical expert for Canadian placements across multiple lines of business adhering at all times to local regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Work within appropriate Underwriting Authority and follow escalation procedures, as determined by the International team.
- Manage the processing of new and renewal business including data entry into system, producing accurate policy documents in multiple languages and lines of business within the different regulatory and compliance requirements within agreed SLAs and quality standards
- Actively participate and support new business, renewal and mid-term adjustments underwriting activities that support underwriting decisions, consistent with business growth and profit for International.
- Manage the responses to external queries from underwriters and works within escalation procedures when necessary.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues in other parts of the organization, including Head Office, Risk Control, Distribution, Claims, Actuarial, etc. as needed.
- Monitor and ensure that all policies are correctly issued and processed, within their Underwriting Authority.
- Proactively analyses and raise queries for Underlyer Requests where information provided is not in line with the country requirements for local policy / certificate issuance.
- Proactively manages enquiries from Underwriting, Billing & Collections, Re-Insurance, Claims so they are addressed by the Multinational team.
- Ensure underwriting records are maintained and processed accurately and efficiently including premium, return premium and reinsurance transactions.
- Comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and ensure that appropriate measures are in place to ensure this compliance.
- Provide training and support to ensure that all tax allocations are accurately processed including the accurate use of tax rates and calculation of tax splits where this is not provided.
- Actively engage and seek out training opportunities to further develop underwriting expertise.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Knowledge of Property and Casualty underwriting including insurance products, policy processing procedures and documentation.
- Strong time management, and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA’s internal and external business partners.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently on multiple tasks.
- Strong capability to advise and coach others.
- Demonstrated customer service experience and the ability to interact with a wide-variety of people on a daily basis in person, via telephone and email.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Typically a minimum of two to three years of related work experience.
- Working toward CIP considered an asset
