The Activities Convenor role is within the Alberta Hospital Edmonton’s (AHE) Patient Experience Recreation team under the leadership of the Care Manager for Allied Health & Patient Experience. Activities Convenors support patients who experience both mental health and addictions concerns with recreational engagement opportunities during Evening Recreation and site-based events. The successful candidate will be responsible for independent program facilitation of a variety of diversional leisure-based activities including karaoke, BINGO, dances, games night and movie nights. This role is recovery focused and requires strong communication.
As an Activities Convenor, you will be responsible for planning, organizing and carrying out entertainment, diversion, social and emotional wellness group activities for clients.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Must have Valid Heart & Stroke Foundation BLS-HCP, Emergency First Aid. This position requires moderate to heavy physical activity and the successful candidate must be able to lift 30 -50 lbs. multiple times and walk distances of up to 2 kilometers during their shift.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with individual and group program facilitation. Understanding and knowledge of recovery orientated care and rehabilitation models. Completion of diploma from a post-secondary program in a related field or equivalent. Strong patient and family centered approach with the ability to work within a collaborative team environment, as well as engage in the patient experience, from a site perspective.
