Airdrie Edge Gymnastics is a growing, community-focused, nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering high-quality recreational and competitive gymnastics and movement programming. Since 1987, our Club has provided opportunities for athletes of all ages and abilities to develop confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of sport.
Our organization offers recreational gymnastics programs alongside three competitive disciplines: Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, Trampoline & Tumbling, and Parkour & Freerunning. About the Parkour Program
Airdrie Edge’s Parkour program provides athletes with opportunities to develop movement skills, confidence, creativity, and physical literacy through progressive instruction and positive coaching. The program serves athletes across a variety of ages and abilities and emphasizes personal growth, challenge, and excitement.
The program encourages athletes to explore movement safely while building resilience, problem-solving skills, teamwork, and confidence both inside and outside of the gym.
Position Summary
The Parkour Head Coach is responsible for the leadership, development, and day-to-day operation of the Parkour & Freerunning program. This role oversees athlete development, supports coaching staff, assists with program planning, and fosters a positive and inclusive team culture.
The Head Coach works collaboratively with Club leadership, coaches, athletes, and families to support the continued growth and success of the Parkour program while ensuring safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate programming.
Key Responsibilities
Athlete Development & Coaching
- Lead the development and delivery of the Parkour program.
- Coach athletes from developmental through competitive levels.
- Develop long-term athlete pathways that support safe, progressive, and individualized growth.
- Monitor athlete progress and provide ongoing evaluation and feedback.
- Support athlete goal setting and competition preparation.
- Promote confidence, creativity, and personal growth through movement.
Program Leadership
- Plan and oversee training schedules, annual program goals, and competitive pathways.
- Contribute to annual program planning and budgeting.
- Organize competition selection, travel planning, camps, and special events.
- Collaborate with Club leadership to support sustainable program growth.
- Ensure program delivery aligns with organizational values and athlete needs.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and fellow Head Coaches to support Club-wide initiatives, scheduling, and organizational success.
Coach Development & Mentorship
- Assist with recruiting, mentoring, and supporting Parkour coaching staff.
- Foster continuing education and professional development opportunities.
- Promote a positive, collaborative, and accountable coaching culture.
- Conduct staff evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and support.
- Model and promote positive coaching practices that align with Airdrie Edge's commitment to Safe Sport and athlete-centred development.
Athlete & Family Relations
- Build positive relationships with athletes and families.
- Communicate program expectations, athlete progress, and competitive opportunities.
- Address questions and concerns professionally and respectfully.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful team environment.
Community & Program Growth
- Maintain positive relationships with Alberta Gymnastics Federation and GymCan.
- Participate in professional development opportunities.
- Support Club events and promotional activities.
- Organize and oversee competitions, camps, and special events.
- Contribute to the growth and visibility of Parkour within the Club and community.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards, insurance requirements, certifications, and Safe Sport requirements.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and positive training environment.
- Follow Club policies and operational procedures.
- Promote athlete well-being and positive sport experiences.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Experience coaching parkour, gymnastics, freerunning, or related movement disciplines.
- NCCP Women's or Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Competition Introduction 1 certification.
- NCCP Trampoline Gymnastics Competition Introduction 1 certification.
- Experience with event hosting and management.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively with athletes of various ages and abilities.
- Positive and collaborative approach to coaching and mentorship.
- Experience leading or developing a program.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
- Criminal Record Check.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
Preferred
- NCCP Competition 3 certified (Men’s or Women’s artistic, or Trampoline) or equivalent coaching education.
- AGF Advanced Parkour and Freerunning certification.
- Off-axis sport education.
- Experience leading team travel.
- Experience with athlete planning and long-term athlete development.
- Experience with program administration.
- Experience with registration software.
- Leadership experience within provincial or national sport organizations.
- Course conductor, evaluator, or mentor experience considered an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft office products.

Work Requirements
- Availability to work evenings and occasional weekends.
- Ability to attend competitions, events, camps, and professional development opportunities as required.
- This position includes approximately 10-15 hours per week of direct coaching, with the remaining hours dedicated to program administration, planning, coach support, and program development.
