The Senior Corporate Accountant is responsible for end-to-end financial reporting for specific Markets of FirstService Residential – North Region. This includes, but is not limited to end-to-end month-end close, journal entries, general ledger reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement preparation and report presentation. The successful candidate will have significant previous accounting experience in the end-to-end processes for month-end close, financial systems, financial report generation and presentation, balance sheet reconciliations and journal entry processing.
The position requires an individual who is ambitious, self-directed, and capable of working autonomously or with the boarder finance and leadership team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Lead the monthly financial close for defined Markets and Operations

Produce and distribute monthly financial statements and other internal and external financial reports, in line with the timelines for completion

Perform balance sheet reconciliations; apply technical knowledge and judgement to ensure accuracy of accounts and timely reconciliations

Report and analyze company financial and operating data; provide financial information to enable senior management to make informed long-term and short-term decisions

Prepare variance analysis and provide variance reporting as necessary

Supporting the preparation of the quarterly/ monthly forecasts, and annual and long-range planning processes by providing financial analysis and projections, supporting cross-department priority setting, and developing detailed modeling

Oversight and responsibility for the accurate billing of Management and Services Fees as well as Ancillary Revenues for the Markets.

Payroll processing

Prepare and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) documentation related to the responsibilities and tasks of the Senior Corporate Accountant

Act as a liaison with IT, Operations and other corporate departments on various projects, initiatives and process improvements
Education & Experience
-
CPA or awaiting designation following completion of CFE
-
Associate degree or higher in Accounting
-
5+ years of Accounting/Finance Experience

Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Applications

Ability to master financial systems and reporting tools (Great Plains/Management Reporter, Vena)
