Stepping Stones Crisis Society is seeking a Full-time Community Outreach Specialist to join their team, based in Cold Lake AB. Stepping Stones is dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by domestic violence and crisis situations. They offer a range of services, including emergency shelter, education, and advocacy, all aimed at empowering our clients to overcome their challenges and achieve long-term stability and safety.
The Community Outreach Specialist plays a critical role in advancing the mission of Stepping Stones by providing direct support, education, and advocacy for individuals impacted by family violence and crisis situations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide trauma informed crisis intervention, safety planning, advocacy, and ongoing case management for clients.
- Conduct risk and assessments to build safety and service plans.
- Guide clients through systems navigation, including housing, legal, healthcare, financial, and child/family supports.
- Facilitate individual and group based support focused on coping skills, healthy relationships, and long-term healing.
- Support seamless program transitions for clients leaving the Emergency Shelter or Second Stage Housing.
- Develop and deliver evidence based workshops, public education programs, and awareness campaigns on family violence prevention.
- Lead local initiatives, including Family Violence Prevention Month activities and community events.
- Build and maintain strong networks with schools, healthcare providers, justice partners, and Indigenous communities.
- Represent Stepping Stones at regional inter-agency meetings and public forums.
- Track outcome measurements and prepare monthly statistical and evaluation reports.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Registered Social Worker (Degree preferred) or post-secondary degree in a related human services field.
- 2–3 years of experience in outreach, case management, or direct support, with deep working knowledge of family violence dynamics, trauma, addictions, and crisis management.
- Proven expertise in crisis intervention, de-escalation, and conflict resolution.
- Strong public speaking, workshop facilitation, and written reporting skills.
- Proficiency with computer systems, including case management software.
- Excellent organizational skills with the self-motivation to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Welfare Check (vulnerable sector).
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
