The National Engineering Manager role reports to the Director Material Handling & Equipment.
Essential functions of the job, include but not limited to:
The role of National Engineering Manager is intended to:
Oversee the engineering standardization program that includes,
Development and ownership of MHE engineering design guidelines
Development and ownership of MHE safety standards
Development and ownership of MHE standard equipment list
Development and ownership of MHE modular design
Design, stakeholder engagement and project oversight for hub and terminals
MHE capital planning
Engineering study and engineering evaluations for sortation technology, MHE equipment like bins/carts/containers and automation/robotics
Oversee the deployment and execution of MHE Engineering and MHE Maintenance projects across the network interacting and interfacing with Operations and Field Engineering,
Provide oversight into health and safety investigations and over MHE safety interactions
Design and equivalence assessment for alternate to OEM spares and equipment
Own and control the MHE Engineering and MHE Maintenance capital budgets and generate reports on monthly forecasts and reconciliation with Finance
Development of MHE Engineering team, skillsets, resource pools and succession planning
Assist with identification and maintaining list of spare parts for critical equipment.
Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in engineering and capital project management roles. Conveyor system experience in a high-volume, 24x7, high-speed package sortation environment;
Strong knowledge of mechanical/electrical spare parts specifications. Experience in manufacturing facility or logistic industry is an asset.
Post-secondary education or associate’s degree in business, logistics, systems engineering, supply chain management or similar
Working knowledge and experienced CMMS software; proficient with general MS Office software;
General health and safety knowledge (Ontario OHSA, ESA, CSA, ULC, etc.).
Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing in English
Must have knowledge of Safety Standards for Conveyor Systems and Material Handling Equipment.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Outstanding communication, customer service, interpersonal and leadership skills.
Some flexibility is required to work during weekends, stat holidays and in afternoon or night shift.
Proficient in some, if not all, of the following:
PHA - Preliminary hazards analysis
FMEA - Failure modes and effects analysis
CA - Criticality analysis
SFMEA - Simplified failure modes and effects analysis
MI - Maintainability information
FTA - Fault tree analysis
ETA - Event tree analysis
Data analysis techniques including:
Statistical Process Control, Reliability modeling and prediction, Fault Tree Analysis, Tree Analysis or Six Sigma (6σ) Methodologies
