Foundations Speech & Language Services is a private practice offering a variety of speech and language services to Grande Prairie and surrounding area. We serve children of families accessing the FSCD program (Family Support for Children with Disabilities), either in-home or in office. We offer school based SLP services and can support families seeking private speech &/or language services. Our vision is to provide services to all who pursue speech & language supports for their children or students.
About the job
Foundations Speech & Language Services is currently seeking a full-time speech-language pathologist to provide intervention for children aged 2-15. The successful candidate will have a manageable caseload and provide direct intervention to clients either in their homes or in a clinic setting. Clientele include children who qualify the FSCD program (Family Supports for Children with Disabilities). There will be opportunities to collaborate with other professionals such as OT, PT and Behavioural Interventionists. This position is ideal for SLPs seeking an opportunity to enhance their clinical skills and to work directly with clients and families. Foundations can offer a mentorship program with a senior SLP and ample opportunity for professional development required to best serve clients.
Responsibilities
- Assessment and intervention planning and implementation for children 2-15 years of age.
- Organizing and scheduling a full caseload.
- Work collaboratively with team members (speech assistant, occupational therapist, physical therapist, behavioural interventionists, psychologist).
- Parent training for interested members of the community.
- Travel may be required to serve clients in other regions (e.g., Peace River, High Prairie, Fox Creek etc.). If travel is required, travel time is considered part of the workday and mileage is reimbursed.
Assets
- Experience with children who have complex communication needs such as autism spectrum disorder.
- Experience with assessment and implementation of augmentative and alterative communication strategies and devices.
- Experience working with parents and the pediatric population.
- Knowledge of FOIP Legislation; Microsoft programs including Excel, Outlook, and databases.
- Specialized training in Hanen programs, Floor time, Pivotal Response Training, Reference & Regulate etc.
- Experience with assessment and treatment of childhood apraxia of speech.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Must be registered or eligible to be registered with Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
- Valid Alberta driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle as travel is required.
- Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Record Check.
