Essential Responsibilities:
Interpret job order tickets and accurately locate underground utilities
Read and interpret blueprints, maps, and construction drawings
Plan travel routes between urban and rural work locations
Operate utility locating and testing equipment to accurately identify underground facilities
Monitor excavation activities and equipment (e.g., excavators) to ensure underground infrastructure is not damaged
Create utility sketches and drawings using Microsoft Visio
Utilize LAC Multi Viewer and Radio Detection locating equipment
Work independently while maintaining a high standard of accuracy, productivity, and safety
Meet project deadlines in a fast-paced, field-based environment.
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of experience locating underground utilities across multiple utility types
Experience working with telecommunications, hydro, gas, water, and other utility infrastructure
Completion of the ORCGA Damage Prevention Technician (DPT) certification
Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to prioritize workload effectively
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and safety
Team player with both excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Computer-savvy; comfortable using multiple applications and digital tools
Valid Full G driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
Ability to maintain company vehicle, test equipment, and tools in excellent condition
Work Conditions:
This role reports to our London yard
Company van and major tools provided
Travel required, including occasional overnight and out-of-town assignments or training
Preference given to local candidates
Work environments include residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas, across varying terrain (grass, gravel, ditches, construction zones, etc.)
Ability to meet physical demands of the role, including sitting, standing, bending, and working outdoors in all weather conditions
Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays as required
Compensation
$26.10 - $38.47 per hour
This is the applicable wage range for this position. Individuals will be assigned a base wage within this range based on trade certification and/or apprenticeship level, industry experience, and work location.
Remote, site-based positions may be eligible for additional incentives including but not limited to travel and accommodation allowances.
