Job Title: Researcher/Professional Writer

Job Type: Full time (30 hours per week for 16 weeks).

Location: Mississauga, ON

Reports to: Project Manager

MAC is seeking a dynamic and committed individual who has professional writing and research skills and is passionate about content development and Islamic thought. The Researcher/Professional Writer will work under the supervision of the Project Manager and team members to research different topics, create, edit and revise developed materials according to MAC vision and mission and project strategic plan. This is a summer job that is funded by the federal Canada Summer Jobs project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
§ Conduct extensive research to provide different resources that are relevant to the project objectives and products.

§ Interview sources, experts and program developers to gain an in-depth understanding of MAC programs and services.

§ Create, edit and revise developed materials, in-house correspondence and technical documentation and create articles, press releases, and newsletters.

§ Contribute articles to local and regional publications on a variety of topics related to MAC programs and current events.

§ Assist script writing for brief educational videos and supply technical details.

§ Verify that publications and materials are accurately represented and are collaborate with other teams, including management, to ensure cohesive branding, creation of marketing materials and guides.

§ Develop original content and revise previously published materials and presentation materials.

§ Provide reports upon request.

The successful candidate should;

§ Be between 20 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;

§ Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.

§ Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

§ Have knowledge about different research methodologies, and the appropriate software and standard research ethics.

§ Fluent in English language. Arabic language fluency is an asset.

§ Be able to analyse and write up data.

§ Have good knowledge of content editing tools.

§ Have excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors.

§ Have effective written and verbal communication skills.

§ Be able to work within a team, with integrity, enthusiasm, initiative and confidence

§ Background on not for profit work and Islamic education is an asset.
