Position Summary
The Residential HVAC Journeyman is responsible for the installation, service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of residential heating and cooling equipment. The technician must be capable of completing installations efficiently while maintaining high workmanship standards, safety compliance, and excellent customer service.
The Journeyman is expected to work independently, lead installation jobs when required, and assist in mentoring junior technicians and helpers.
Key Responsibilities
Installation
- Install residential HVAC equipment including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, HRVs, and water heaters.
- Complete full furnace and AC changeouts including venting, gas piping, drain connections, electrical connections, and equipment start-up.
- Install and modify sheet metal ductwork, transitions, plenums, and fittings.
- Ensure installations comply with TSSA gas code, Ontario Building Code, and manufacturer specifications.
Service & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and repair residential heating and cooling systems.
- Perform system start-ups and commissioning.
- Conduct combustion analysis and verify proper equipment operation.
- Troubleshoot electrical, gas, airflow, and refrigeration issues.
Maintenance
- Perform preventative maintenance on furnaces, boilers, air conditioners, and heat pumps.
- Complete inspection reports and identify potential system issues.
Leadership & Teamwork
- Lead installation crews when assigned.
- Supervise and direct helpers or junior technicians.
- Ensure jobs are completed efficiently and on schedule.
Customer Service
- Communicate clearly with homeowners about work being performed.
- Maintain professionalism on job sites.
- Ensure work areas are kept clean and organized.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all workplace safety procedures.
- Ensure compliance with TSSA gas regulations and company standards.
- Use proper tools and PPE at all times.
Required Qualifications
- Valid G2 Gas Technician License (minimum)
- 313D or 313A Refrigeration License (preferred but not mandatory)
- Minimum 3–5 years residential HVAC experience
- Ability to complete residential furnace and AC installations
- Valid Ontario driver’s license
- Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00-$52.00 per hour
