Job Description
Mechanical Engineer – Advanced UAS & Sensor Systems
Join a Teledyne business designing mission‑critical technologies that support defence and public safety operations. Here, you’ll work on rugged, precision‑engineered products—from sensing devices to unmanned systems—used in demanding environments. If you enjoy turning concepts into manufacturable designs and collaborating across disciplines, this role offers the chance to make a real-world impact. You’ll balance hands-on design with analysis, prototyping, and production support in a fast-moving engineering team.
What you’ll do
Design plastic, metal, and multi-material components and assemblies using SolidWorks
Own and update master models and create manufacturing-ready 2D drawings
Build and test prototypes using rapid methods (e.g., 3D printing)
Perform engineering analyses (stress, thermal, airflow, loads) to guide decisions
Partner with electrical, manufacturing, quality, and reliability teams
Research and apply new technologies for unmanned systems (UAS)
Support verification activities, fixture design, and product testing
Drive design reviews and file release processes
Contribute to production troubleshooting and continuous improvement
What you need
Required: Strong SolidWorks skills (3D, assemblies, master models, drawings)
Required: Ability to work independently and apply prior learnings to new designs
Required: Knowledge of manufacturing methods (injection moulding, sheet metal, casting, welding)
Required: Experience performing engineering analyses and trade-offs
Required: Experience with prototype validation and product testing
Required: Ability to manage timelines, quality, and design releases
Advantage: Experience with UAS or ruggedised systems
Advantage: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
What we offer
Work on mission-driven technologies with real-world impact
Exposure to complex, multi-disciplinary engineering challenges
Opportunities to collaborate across Teledyne’s global engineering teams
Hands-on involvement from concept through production
Stable environment with long-term product development cycles
