The Application Support Analyst is responsible for providing tier 2 support for core business applications, exercising a strong understanding of retail business processes and application usage to meet operational goals. The Analyst also ensures that expected results are delivered to the user community as agreed upon service level agreement and performance standards. In addition to day-to-day operation, he/she is involved in application related projects.
What you’ll do
Provide tier 2 application support to issues encountered by the end users and escalate and follow-up with tier 3 support when required
Communicate directly or through ticketing system to the internal or external parties or end users
Monitor Production application environment to ensure availability, stability and reliability
Install new application versions to the different environments including Production systems while following proper change management process
Interface with projects on application requirements associated with his/her group
Assist with managing and improving the support processes associated with the group, including but not limited to automation
Provides technical leadership for technology changes within the application group specific to his/her area of responsibility
Assist with developing Standard Operating Procedures associated with our application stack
Ensures proper practice is followed for all changes within his/her area of responsibility
Ensure operational tasks are performed for the area he/she is responsible for
Subject Matter Expert with multiple retail application technologies
Document new procedures and ensure the Knowledge Base is maintained

What you bring
Minimum of 5-7 years in a retail environment and 7-10 years in an IT environment
Strong understanding of database environments (SQL, DB2) with the ability to read, write and execute SQL statements/scripts
Strong knowledge of retail based applications and business processes
Knowledge in some or all of the following areas: Windows Server, AIX, Linux, IBM iSeries AS400, IIS
Experience of MS Dynamics AX would be an asset
Strong knowledge of Excel
Good understanding of hardware and networking components
Excellent analytical skills and understanding of common business analysis practices
Ability to learn new concepts in a short timeframe and share knowledge between team members
Ability to compile ideas into a formal presentation and deliver to a group of individuals at all levels of the organization
Ability to create and deliver training sessions to his/her team
Strong commitment to creating and maintaining documentation
Ability to perform gap analysis to identify areas for improvement in application performance, functionality and processes
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Academic / Educational requirements
Diploma or degree from an accredited technical institution in computer technologies
ITIL Version 2 or 3 certification is an asset
