The Summer Internship Program is for undergraduate or Master's students from various academic disciplines to gain meaningful work experience from May to August. City divisions are looking to hire students in the following roles: administration trainee, exempt (human resources) trainee, financial trainee, IT trainee, program support trainee, research trainee, and technical trainee. Candidates are welcome to apply to multiple roles.
Program eligibility requirements:
Must be currently enrolled at a post-secondary institution
Must be returning to studies in Fall 2022
Full-time, part-time and mature students are eligible to apply

Major Responsibilities:
Your primary responsibilities as a Research Trainee will be varied. Specifically, you will:
Assist with assembling and compiling information/survey packages.
Collect data by distributing questionnaires, visiting sites, going door to door, asking participants/groups for information/opinions etc.
Travels to various locations and/or attends special events to provide support/on-site assistance and distribute information.
Assist with packing, loading, lifting, moving, delivering and unpacking supplies, displays etc.
Documents findings. Inputs/retrieves/updates/maintains data.
Assist with organizing and presenting data collected.
Assist with compiling and consolidation of data for others to analyze/process.
Assist others with drafting documents, bulletins etc. and data analysis.
Assist in maintaining data/statistics.
Assist with various office functions.
Answers calls, provides general information, takes messages and directs inquiries to appropriate staff to answer questions/handle requests.
Key Qualifications:
Experience conducting and/or assisting with research projects involving collecting data, summarizing, analyzing and reporting on research findings or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to prepare reports, presentations and communications materials.
Strong data management skills.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and work cooperatively within a team
Good understanding of research ethics, including issues related to privacy and confidentiality.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a member of a team
Ability to provide excellent customer service to clients and members of the public
