Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Assistant Warehouse Manager to oversee daily warehouse operations. This role involves managing inventory, coordinating shipping and receiving, operating heavy equipment, and ensuring efficient order fulfillment. Responsibilities
- Assist in managing warehouse distribution activities, including order picking, packing, and shipping & receiving processes
- Operate heavy equipment such as reach trucks, forklifts, and other heavy machinery safely and efficiently
- Oversee the use of warehouse management systems (WMS) and AS400 for inventory control and order processing
- Coordinate load & unload operations to ensure timely delivery and receipt of goods
- Supervise warehouse staff in order fulfillment, packaging, and heavy lifting tasks
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory levels, and equipment maintenance
- Support the implementation of safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation and construction activities within the warehouse
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment such as order pickers, cranes, forklifts, and mechanical tools to ensure proper functioning
- Assist in training staff on the operation of heavy equipment and warehouse procedures
- Collaborate with other departments to optimize warehouse workflows and improve overall efficiency
Requirements
- Proven experience in warehouse management or warehouse operations with knowledge of shipping & receiving processes
- Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment including reach trucks, forklifts, cranes, and order pickers
- Mechanical knowledge related to warehouse machinery and tools
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), AS400, and inventory control software
- Strong understanding of manufacturing or construction environments is preferred
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently for extended periods
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in order fulfillment and inventory accuracy
- Prior experience with load & unload procedures and packaging standards
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while maintaining safety standards
- Relevant certifications for forklift operation or crane operation are a plus
