Investment Associate, Global Strategic Relationships (GSR)

The Opportunity
As an Associate, you will play a meaningful role in supporting team's efforts to increase OTPP's global profile and enhance our competitiveness in the global marketplace. In collaboration with the broader GSR team, you will help expand and differentiate the Fund’s opportunity sets by identifying and cultivating key partnerships, promoting greater global horizontal connectivity and building OTPP's strategic capacity.
Who you'll work with
You will become a member of the dynamic GSR Department, which is part of the CIO Office. You will help to implement GSR's strategy, and will collaborate with a globally distributed team to meet the overall goals of the department. The Investment Associate will have the unique opportunity to work collaboratively across all asset classes and regions, and with external partners, to deliver outcomes vital to the success of Ontario Teachers’ global operation. Working as a part of a global team, it is essential that you be a collaborative team-player and able to seize and help develop opportunities that will benefit Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan as a whole.
What you'll do
Support all facets of the team’s global initiatives, including the development of key strategy and business planning materials used to facilitate discussions by senior management and the Investment Executive Team
Organize research findings, performs data analysis, and creatively convey results in presentation and pre-read material for senior GSR team members and other senior internal or external audiences
Assist in the preparation of cross-asset class and cross-regional analytics designed to drive meaningful insights into the Fund’s global strategy, and provide support in the development and communication of related recommendations to senior leadership
Support the senior GSR team’s development, cultivation, and overall coordination of key internal and external relationships for the Fund
Provide mentorship support to junior Analysts and Interns
What you'll need
Undergraduate degree; Graduate degree in economics, business or global affairs an asset
Minimum 2 years relevant work experience at an investment bank, management consulting, pension plan, asset manager, or hedge/private equity or credit fund
Solid understanding of both liquid and illiquid asset classes, including hedge funds, private and public equity, infrastructure, fixed income, real estate, and commodities would be an asset
Keen interest in capital markets and global political and economic affairs
Prior exposure to long-term strategy development or strategic relationship development an asset
Superior written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong presentation capabilities
Excellent analytical and quantitative skills and ability to perform in-depth, critical analysis
Ability to balance multiple priorities, work independently, lead projects and thrive in a high-performance, high-impact global team
Great team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to establish and build relationships
