We’re looking for a Purchaser to join our Calgary Supply Chain team.This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building strong supplier relationships, manage inbound purchasing activities, resolve supply chain issues and contribute to the overall efficiency of our procurement processes.
Propell is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchaser to join our Supply Chain team. In this role, you will be responsible for procuring components, parts, supplies, equipment, and services required to support production operations and parts sales. Working closely with the Supply Chain Supervisor, Warehouse, Production, and key suppliers, you will ensure inventory levels are maintained while securing the best combination of quality, delivery, and cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet the demand for procurement by issuing POs for goods, materials, and services for inventory, production, and part sales in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Prepare and administer requests for quote, requests for proposal, requests for information, and work closely with suppliers both internal & external.
- Contact suppliers regarding errors in partial or duplicate shipments, prices, and substitutions.
- Identify discrepancies between shipments and orders and take action. Communicate all delays or variances of inbound freight to the appropriate parties.
- Communicate with the warehouse to ensure rapid delivery and reception of goods and/or services.
- Receive and handle confirmations from vendors; verify that the information on the confirmation is for agreed-upon prices, products, shipment date, and shipping method.
- Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies using diplomacy and tact with vendors and service providers. Coordinate with AP.
- Remain up-to-date on pricing trends, changes, and restrictions that could affect purchasing.
- Advise of lead times required to obtain products or services and expedite where required.
- Make recommendations and suggest options regarding material shortages.
- Negotiate return of items to vendors and coordinate subsequent credits or replacements.
- Make alternate arrangements in the event of shortages or delayed deliveries to minimize impact on the organization.
- Adhere to and enforce compliance with purchasing policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
- Attend team meetings to provide assistance in resolving issues, reviewing progress and ensuring assignment of new tasks
- Actively participate in identifying areas of opportunity and barriers for effective performance
- Manage inbound freight of purchases
- Practice safe work procedures at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned and anticipated
