TDE is seeking a Project Accountant to work alongside project managers to provide the financial administration of multiple projects of varying sizes.
Responsibilities:
- Review contracts and purchase orders for billing terms and invoicing requirements.
- Prepare invoices for client contracts including lump sum and cost reimbursable. This may include labour hours of salaried and hourly employees, material, sub-contracts, miscellaneous buyouts and equipment usage etc. for review and approval by the project manager(s).
- Prepare billing backups (hard copy or electronic) when required.
- Ensure accurate and timely entry of invoices into the accounting system.
- Carry out monthly project billing analysis and invoicing in coordination with project managers and various stakeholders.
- Report invoice and payment status to project managers.
- Communicate and resolve receipt/payable discrepancies and inquiries with customers, vendors, project managers and any other relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare monthly project cash flow and forecasting reports.
- Provide project reporting and cost tracking support to multiple project managers.
- Set up projects and cost codes in TDE’s accounting system in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Generate weekly time sheet reports for Project office and shop labour.
- Reconcile subvendor purchase orders and invoices as part of project closure activities.
- Become an effective user of TDE’s accounting system (Sage 300) and timekeeping software (Manusonic).
- Maintain accurate electronic filing system for project accounting related information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of related experience in Project Accounting or Finance, supporting Project Managers or Project teams.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Finance, Accounting or related field or equivalent experience.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good understanding of financial metrics.
- Proficient knowledge of industry best practices.
- Proven ability to produce high quality work while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize activities, adapt to change, and stay focused in a dynamic environment.
- Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, Teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to interact positively with all levels of staff.
- Demonstrate sensitivity and discretion when working with confidential information.
