Eco-Tec, A Kovalus Separation Solutions Company is looking for a mid level Mechanical Engineer in our Pickering, ON location. The incumbent will assume ownership of the mechanical engineering portions of new design-build projects, design structural, piping and vessel components, select mechanical components based on project scope and specification requirements, evaluate and estimate costs based on project bid specifications and make improvements/modifications to existing product designs.
What You Will Do
- Provide mechanical design of systems/equipment for purchasing and fabrication per the Sales order and in accordance with specifications, industrial codes/standards and Eco-Tec procedures. The design activity entails development of P&ID, system layouts, structural design and analysis using FEA softwares, system 3D models, structure/vessel/piping fabrication drawings, skid frame and supports, and pneumatics.
- Evaluate, select, and design systems that include:
· ASME Pressure vessels,
· Pumps, blowers, compressors, mixers, etc.
· heat exchangers, condensers, evaporators, etc.
· Instrument and measurement and control devices
- Preparation of project documentation as per project schedule.
- Recommend and develop product design improvements to meet the needs of the client in the competitive marketplace.
- Provide direction and work in conjunction with other Mechanical Engineers and Designers.
- Document quality standards for systems/equipment/documentation.
- Recommend and evaluate new components.
- Anticipate, detect, analyze and resolve mechanical design problems.
- Equipment costing, review of tendering specifications and related documentation.
- Inspection and sign-off of major mechanical components.
- Practice proper change control as per Eco-Tec procedures and quality system
- Review budgets before BOMs are released to the Materials Group.
- Provide technical support to all other departments and project stakeholders.
- Attend training programs necessary to maintain/upgrade skills.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
- Perform other related duties as required by manager.
What Will Put You Ahead
- University Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- P.Eng. designation or eligible to apply for certification at PEO
- Experience with ANSYS FEA programs for structural design
- 2 years design experience as per ASME Section VIII-1
- 2 years piping design experience as per ASME B31.3.
- 3 to 5 years of 2D drafting software experience (AutoCAD preferred)
- 3 to 5 years of 3D parametric design software experience (Inventor/ SolidWorks preferred)
Ability to travel when needed with a valid passport that allows you to travel internationally; legally eligible to enter the USA
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience with design and construction standards of skidded/packaged equipment and pressure vessels
- Certification with ANSYS or other Finite Element Analysis (FEA) programs.
- Certification with Compress or other Numerical analysis programs for pressure vessel design calculations
