The Maximus Canada Finance team is compiled of skilled professionals who support the operational function and strategic objectives of our organization through sound financial management. Our key responsibilities include full cycle accounting for multiple entities, payroll, forecasting, reporting and analysis, treasury, audit and tax.
The Senior Manager, Accounting and Treasury is responsible for the full-cycle accounting operations of our multi-entity organization and managing a team of 8 direct reports.
Supervise and manage accounting team
Managing workflow and procedures
Ensure appropriate internal controls are established and maintained.
Performance management, annual reviews and facilitates employee engagement and development
Manage Full Cycle accounting for multiple entities
Oversee accounts payable and receivable process
Accounting for fixed assets, prepaid, accruals, payroll, intercompany, revenue and tax
Facilitate month end close and reporting
GL management and trial balance preparation
Cash management , forecasting, reconciliations and reporting
Oversee payment distribution processes
Coordinate preparation of annual audit and tax return working papers
Liaise with auditors through audit and tax return filing process
Oversee GST/PST remittances
Education and Experience
Accounting designation (CPA/CPA, CGA or CPA, CA)
Bachelor’s degree from accredited post-secondary institution. Business focus preferred.
7 – 10 years of experience at Manager/Controller level or higher leading a team of 5+ direct reports.
Experience leading a team remotely an asset.
Experience working for a mid to large size, multi-entity organization.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
ERP/accounting software knowledge at the advanced level; proficient in Microsoft office applications. Experience with Sage 300 preferred.
Thorough understanding of accounting practices and principles for a for-profit entity. Knowledge of US GAAP an asset.
Ability to interpret and apply corporate financial policies and government legislation.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
Strong leadership skills; ability to effectively supervise, manage and provide clear direction for team members.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently using sound judgement
