Reports To: Manager, Case Management Services

We’re looking for a Team Leader who will be responsible for the daily management of a team of Disability Claim Specialists, with the accountability of meeting productivity and quality standards. The Team Leader will provide ongoing coaching and development and will ensure the team uses efficient and effective methods to meet client needs.

We are a not-for-profit organization and our shareholders are the communities in which we operate. 13% of our net income goes back into our communities through the Medavie Health Foundation and our Building Healthy Communities program.
Act as the primary resource for your team members in determining direction and procedures for complex claims by providing information, answering questions and requests;
Communicating with different stakeholders regarding complex or contentious claims in order to effectively manage relationships;
Contributing in department strategic goals by gathering pertinent business, financial, service and operations information; identifying and evaluating trends and opportunities and defining objectives and evaluating outcomes;
Monitoring the use of key adjudication resources such as surveillance, rehabilitation and independent medical examinations to ensure the effective use of these tools;
Demonstrating strong analysis and resolving quality and client service problems and identifying trends and recommending system improvements.
Building a stable team through recruiting qualified talent, training employees and providing guidance in career development;
Participating in client meetings and presentations including group renewals, finalist presentations and education sessions with employers, and;
Contributing to the organization’s effectiveness by offering information and opinions at Team Leader meetings and building and maintaining inter- and intradepartmental relationships.
Education: Post-secondary education in business, medical or rehabilitation management.
Work Experience: Two years or more of people management combined with five plus years of direct work experience in Life and Disability Management or ten plus years of adjudicating disability insurance claims.
Other Qualifications: Insurance designation (LOMA or other) will be considered an asset.
Language Skills: Bilingualism in English and French considered an asset.
