Role overview
The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, timely cost estimates for plumbing and mechanical projects. You will work closely with project managers, field crews, suppliers, and clients to price work properly and set projects up for success from day one.
What you’ll do
- Review drawings, specs, and scope documents
- Complete takeoffs for labour, materials, and equipment
- Prepare detailed estimates for residential, commercial, and multifamily projects
- Request and review supplier and subcontractor pricing
- Identify risks, gaps, and clarifications before work starts
- Support project managers during handoff and execution
- Update estimates as scopes change
- Maintain estimating templates and cost data
What we’re looking for
- Experience in plumbing or mechanical estimating
- Strong understanding of plumbing systems and construction methods
- Ability to read drawings and specifications confidently
- Solid math skills and attention to detail
- Organized, reliable, and deadline-driven
- Comfortable working with estimating software and spreadsheets
- Valid driver’s licence is an asset
Nice to have
- Field experience as a plumber, apprentice, or labourer
- Experience with commercial or multifamily projects
- Familiarity with local codes and inspection requirements
- Estimating software experience an asset
