Operations Manager — Mitchell Island, Richmond, BC Donald's Fine Foods | Full-time | On-site
Donald's Fine Foods is a family-owned specialty meat processor with facilities across British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. We're hiring an Operations Manager to lead day-to-day production, warehousing, and shipping at our Mitchell Island facility.
About the Role
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Operations Manager is the senior leader on the production floor during assigned hours, accountable for keeping production, warehousing, and shipping running safely, on schedule, and within budget. You'll lead the Production Manager, Superintendent, Warehouse and Logistics Supervisor, and Shipping Coordinator, translating the site's operating plan into floor-level execution.
What You'll Do
- Oversee manufacturing, warehousing, and shipping to fulfill customer orders on schedule and within budget
- Manage shift-level manpower planning, labour, and overtime
- Enforce HACCP, CFIA, and SFCR Preventive Control Plan requirements on the floor
- Maintain audit readiness for BRC AA, customer, and supplier audits
- Drive a zero lost-time and medical-aid-incident safety culture, in compliance with WorkSafeBC
- Coach and develop the Production Manager, supervisors, and production leads, including succession planning
- Support administration of the collective agreement and maintain engaged floor-level employee relations
- Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement through KPIs
What You Bring
- 5 to 8 years of progressive experience in production or operations management, ideally in food manufacturing or another regulated manufacturing environment
- Diploma or degree in Business, Operations, Food Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge of HACCP and food safety management systems
- Experience operating in a unionized environment is an asset
- Strong people management and decision-making skills under operational pressure
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $110,000 to $130,000, based on experience
