Position Summary:
The Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing restaurant operations during assigned shifts, ensuring excellent customer service, food quality, team performance, cleanliness, and compliance with company standards. This role provides leadership to team members, supports training and development, and helps achieve operational and financial goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise restaurant staff during assigned shifts.
- Ensure all food is prepared, presented, and served according to company standards.
- Monitor service times and guest satisfaction.
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards throughout the restaurant.
- Perform opening, closing, and shift change procedures.
Team Leadership
- Direct and motivate team members to achieve performance goals.
- Delegate tasks and monitor completion.
- Assist with onboarding and training new employees.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance support.
- Address employee concerns and resolve workplace issues professionally.
Customer Service
- Deliver exceptional guest experiences.
- Handle customer complaints and service recovery situations promptly.
- Ensure a welcoming and positive atmosphere for guests.
Financial & Administrative Duties
- Manage cash handling procedures and daily deposits.
- Monitor labor costs and staffing levels during shifts.
- Assist with inventory counts, ordering, and stock control.
- Complete required shift reports and documentation accurately.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce food safety and health regulations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Promote a safe working environment for employees and guests.
Minimum QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a restaurant, quick-service restaurant (QSR), retail, or hospitality environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Experience managing teams and handling employee performance issues.
- Basic cash handling and point-of-sale (POS) experience.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred
- Experience in a fast-paced quick-service restaurant environment.
- Food Handler Certification (ServSafe).
- First Aid or workplace safety training.
