Working for an important client in the area of hydropower in Montreal, the primary mission of the Project Engineer in Telecommunications will consist of managing major telecommunication projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical studies, planning, technical integrity, coordination and documentation. They will prepare the engineering strategy and make recommendations.
Coordinate all technical studies based on the client’s technical directions, standards, guidelines and practices
Plan, negotiate, confirm and manage assignments with the various stakeholders
Ensure the integration into the structural design of technical and environmental aspects, relationships with all stakeholders, project planning, estimate and control, client needs and requirements and field surveys, and prepare reports to be forwarded to the client
Coordinate and participate in the preparation of the documents required to obtain all permits, governmental authorizations, property rights or easements necessary to carry out studies and works
Participate in design reviews as well as expert and adviser committee meetings
Ensure concept definition and seal plans
Coordinate the preparation of scope statements in compliance with concepts, and participate in the development of the business proposal
Prepare the engineering strategy, coordinate technical activities, and ensure the execution of engineering works and deliverables based on the planned strategy
Participate in the development of the recommendation, and in the negotiation and administration of professional services contracts for the preparation of engineering documents
Prepare the documents required to follow up and report on engineering activities
Coordinate and participate in the technical analysis of bids and the preparation of technical recommendations
Ensure technical problem solving and technical support during procurement, manufacturing, construction and claim processing
Ensure the execution of engineering activities
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in a relevant field and OIQ membership
At least eight years of experience in project management in the area of technical and engineering studies, namely planning, follow-up and quality assurance
Experience in project management in the telecommunications sector
Experience drafting reports and summaries in French
Good knowledge of the ISO 14001 standards and computer tools used in this function (e.g. MS Project Suite)
