Taylor Ryan is partnering with a well-established Canadian construction organization to recruit an experienced Project Control Manager for a major transit project in the Greater Toronto Area.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership opportunity responsible for bringing planning, scheduling, cost control, forecasting, risk and change management together into one reliable project controls system.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical project controls knowledge with the ability to lead people, communicate clearly and present project performance confidently to senior leadership, clients and project partners.
This opportunity may suit an experienced Project Control Manager or a strong Project Controls Lead ready to take the next step on a complex, high-profile infrastructure project.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain integrated project controls systems, procedures and reporting standards.
- Lead planning, scheduling, cost control, forecasting, risk and change-management activities.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of project cost and schedule baselines.
- Implement and maintain the project’s Earned Value Management plan.
- Monitor project performance, identify variances and provide reliable cost and schedule forecasts.
- Lead project controls and performance-review meetings with the wider project team.
- Present project performance, risks and corrective actions to senior leadership, clients and project partners.
- Lead and support project controls professionals specializing in planning, scheduling, cost, risk and change.
- Work closely with Project Managers to monitor overall project health and implement corrective action.
- Ensure project information is accurate, consistent and communicated on time.
- Establish a regular cadence for risk reviews and support the development of mitigation and contingency plans.
- Support Commercial and Procurement teams with change orders, subcontractor claims, client claims and dispute resolution.
- Provide project controls and commercial input during proposal development and contract reviews.
- Ensure compliance with contractual project controls requirements from project setup through closeout.
- Build strong working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors and joint-venture partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- At least 15 years of project controls or construction experience.
- Proven project controls leadership experience on major transit, rail, heavy civil or complex infrastructure projects.
- Strong proficiency with the InEight software suite.
- Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6 and integrated project scheduling.
- Strong understanding of Earned Value Management principles.
- Demonstrated experience in cost control, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and estimating.
- Ability to develop, review and challenge schedules, progress curves and project-performance reports.
- Experience managing project risk, change control, claims and contractual reporting requirements.
- Previous experience leading multidisciplinary project controls teams.
- Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to explain complex project information clearly and confidently.
- Strong judgment, accountability and practical problem-solving ability.
- Experience working under a collaborative, joint-venture, alliance or similar delivery model is an asset.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
