We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Educational Assistant to join a multidisciplinary team supporting a Grade 6 student with highly complex needs. This is a unique opportunity that requires an individual who is committed to building meaningful relationships, creating a safe and supportive learning environment, and supporting programming that responds to the student’s individual strengths and needs.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of trauma-informed, relationship-based, and neurodevelopmentally appropriate practices, with an ability to understand behaviour as a form of communication and respond proactively and effectively to the student’s needs.
The successful candidate will have the ability to work with minimal supervision under the direction of the classroom teacher and learning coach. They will provide flexible support to students/children according to their changing needs and to facilitate and encourage independence in all areas of student/child development.
The individual selected for this position will demonstrate a strong understanding of trauma-informed, relationship-based, and neurodevelopmentally appropriate practices, with an ability to understand behaviour as a form of communication and respond proactively and effectively to the student’s needs.
The educational setting for this position may vary and will require the successful candidate to demonstrate flexibility, consistency, sound professional judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively across environments within a multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will work closely with education, home, and community-based team members to ensure that strategies and supports are implemented consistently across settings. This position is well suited to an individual who is creative, reflective, collaborative, patient, and committed to seeing the student’s strengths and potential while maintaining high expectations for meaningful participation and growth.
This temporary full-time hours are based on the school year calendar, with work scheduled Monday to Thursday and on designated Fridays, for a total of approximately 32.5 hours per week.
Experience working with students with complex needs that includes collaboration with educational support teams and therapists, such as SLP, OT, and Behavioral Consultants is an asset. Preferred applicants will have a Educational Assistant Certificate. Training in trauma informed practices and positive behaviour supports is an asset.
Pay Grid Level I - High School Diploma
Pay Grid Level II (Certified) - Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma, or a High School Diploma and the equivalent of a minimum of one (1) year of full-time post secondary course study.
