Job Description:
As an Environmental Technologist at JD Environmental, you will play a crucial role in supporting out team with conducting building inventories, clearance testing, and air quality investigations. You will be responsible for evaluating sites for potential environmental contamination, assessing risks, and recommending remedial actions to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Your expertise will help clients make informed decisions regarding property renovations, demolitions, and ensuring the safety of the areas in question is adequate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Building Inventories:
- Conduct research and review of records to identify potential environmental hazards on site.
- Perform site visits to observe current conditions and identify potential environmental hazardous materials concerns.
- Collect samples of all hazardous materials noted by clients or that are to be disturbed during work to the building for laboratory analysis.
- Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings, including potential environmental risks and recommendations for further investigation if necessary as well as proper remediation techniques.
- Create quotes as needed for remediations.
- Clearance Air Testing:
- Coordinate with contractors for access to sites and scheduling of tests.
- Collect air samples within remediation enclosures for laboratory analysis.
- Interpret analytical data to determine the presence and extent of contamination.
- Prepare reports outlining the clearance air testing results.
- Air Quality Investigations:
- Collect samples of air as needed within a site for laboratory analysis.
- Collect live readings within the sites to get an overview of the air quality throughout.
- Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings, including potential environmental risks and recommendations for further investigation if necessary as well as proper remediation techniques.
- Create quotes as needed for remediations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in environmental consulting is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in environmental sampling techniques and laboratory data interpretation.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and personal vehicle for daily use is required.
- Must be willing to travel to project sites as required.
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certification or designations are preferred but not mandatory
- Familiarity with Health and Safety protocols related to environmental fieldwork.
