We are hiring a full-time, permanent CNC Milling Machinist/Team Lead to join our team in Grimsby and lead our Manufacturing Department! Please note that this is a working-supervisory role.

Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday, day shift
Wage: $45+/hour depending on experience
Overview:
- Report to Plant Manager
- Responsible for set-up, programming, and operation of a CNC 3-axis or 5-axis Mill
- Use of SolidWorks and hyperMILL to program
- Oversee and lead manufacturing department, including operators, machinists, welders, apprentices, and administrative support
- Ensure manufacturing department members are meeting timeline and quality expectations
- Communication and coordination with other departments and senior management regarding project updates, issues, etc.
- Assist Manufacturing Admin with planning and coordination of materials
- Facilitate training and development of all manufacturing department team members
- Assist HR with hiring and progressive discipline processes for manufacturing department as needed
- Assist with department enhancement and innovation
- General cleaning of workspace
- Ensure team is working safely and adhering to VTR’s mission, vision, and values
- Use of other manual mills, saws, and other machinery as needed
- Other general labour tasks as required
What you’ll Bring:
- Minimum 3 years of management or supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment; experience leading, organizing, and scheduling a team
- 5+ years of experience performing set-up and machining on CNC 3-axis or CNC 5-axis Mill
- 5+ years of experience programming using SolidWorks and hyperMILL or similar CAD/CAM software required
- Completion of General Machinist 429A CoQ/CoA or related trade
- Must be comfortable standing for long periods of time
- Forklift certification preferred but willing to train
- Mechanically inclined and strong problem-solving skills
- Proven leadership skills and ability to delegate tasks
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-function team
- Able to work and manage a team following tight deadlines
- Demonstrates flexibility and the ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices in a manufacturing environment
