Position Summary
Canadian Arena Services is seeking an experienced, hands-on, and service-focused Arena Manager. This role manages seasonal arena operations, facility maintenance, ice quality, staff supervision, and customer service for the duration of the season, approximately October to April.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
· Manage day-to-day operations at the Davidson arena, ensuring the facility is clean, safe, properly staffed, and prepared for scheduled programming and rentals.
· Implement operational procedures, service standards, and best practices to support consistent and reliable facility operations.
· Oversee ice maintenance, resurfacing activities, building maintenance, equipment checks, and preventative maintenance tasks.
Leadership & People Management
· Supervise Arena Operators, Rink Attendants, and seasonal or part-time staff as assigned.
· Support recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, training, coaching, and performance feedback for arena staff.
· Promote a positive, accountable, collaborative, and safety-focused workplace culture.
Client & Contract Management
· Act as the primary on-site contact for facility users, community groups, municipal representatives, contractors, and visitors.
· Respond to operational concerns, service requests, and user inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
· Maintain clear communication with senior leadership regarding facility performance, staffing, maintenance issues, and user feedback.
Asset & Facility Management
· Coordinate contractors, suppliers, and service providers as required to support day-to-day maintenance and repairs.
· Maintain inspections, maintenance records, equipment logs, incident reports, and other required operational documentation.
Financial Management
· Monitor labour hours, supplies, inventory, minor maintenance expenses, and other site-level operating costs.
· Support budget planning and cost-control efforts by providing accurate information, recommendations, and operational updates to senior leadership.
Health & Safety
· Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, TSSA requirements, environmental regulations, and company policies.
Required Skills & Abilities
· Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in arena operations, recreation facility operations, or facility maintenance, including supervisory experience.
· Strong working knowledge of arena operations, ice maintenance, refrigeration systems, facility systems, preventative maintenance, and safe work practices.
· Strong leadership, communication, customer service, problem-solving, scheduling, planning, and organizational skills.
· Ability to follow and implement operational policies, procedures, performance standards, and training requirements.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is an asset.
· Valid driver’s licence, Standard First Aid & CPR/AED certification, WHMIS certification, and willingness to respond to operational emergencies as required.
· ORFA Basic Arena Refrigeration Certification, or willingness to obtain.
Preferred Assets
· ORFA Certified Ice Technician designation, related pool or facility operations certifications, JHSC certification, or experience working in a municipal recreation environment.

Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
