The Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows COUNTRY FEST is an agricultural fair that is scheduled for the last weekend in July. We have an annual attendance of 20,000 visitors and are managed with 99% volunteers. The completely free community event features competitive 4-H and open livestock shows, agricultural related educational programs, children’s activities, main stage and grounds entertainment and a variety of attractions for all ages including a midway, vintage and artisan market, to name a few.
The Country Fest office is located at the Albion Fairgrounds, Jim Robson Way, and the site is on a bus route. Daily hours are 10am – 5pm to accommodate possible travel difficulties. The hours are flexible and there will be weekend work during the event.
Students who are pursuing a career in the field of agriculture, administration, accounting, computer graphic design, special events or marketing and promotions will benefit from this job placement.
Required Skills:
- Deep knowledge of the 4-H program and local agriculture
- Excellent organizational skills
- Good telephone manner
- Ability to deal courteously with guests and exhibitors

- Computer skills – MS Office, Publisher, Excel, Photoshop
Job Duties:
- Promotion and education of agriculture
- General administration of a busy special events office
- Basic office accounting procedures
- Administrative tasks including processing of email and general mail
- Sponsor recognition (through the website)
- Organization of awards
- Contracts to judges, demonstrators, program contractors, stage entertainers
- Assisting with media
- Website updates
- Poster designs for 4-H attractions
- Promotion and marketing of programs
- Organizing 4-H group accommodation and arrival plans
- Hosting small 4-H exclusive events
- Recording of volunteer hours
All work will be under the supervision of the fair manager, and will be supported by the manager, social media coordinator, and our many volunteers. The work environment is very collaborative, the work is exciting, and there's a lot you can learn.
