Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Bookkeeper & Payroll Associate with experience in full set of books and union payroll processing to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial and cost records, and ensuring the financial integrity of accounting and costing records. This role is essential in supporting the owner with timely and accurate financial information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hands on full set of Accounts Payable processing including coding GL account, process payments, resolve purchase order, contract, invoice or payment discrepancies.
- Process Payroll in QuickBooks and Telpay weekly.
- Prepare Union Remittance Report and make payment via online banking monthly.
- Prepare and file government remittances (Payroll Liabilities, GST/HST Return and EHT).
- Prepare and report WSIB premium as per schedule.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations, including Bank account and other GL accounts.
- Assist in year end closings and preparing for Corporate Tax filing.
- Maintain and monitor accounting systems to ensure accurate recording of all transaction.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls and company policies related to accounting practices.
- Identify areas for cost savings and suggest process improvements.
Qualifications:
- Post Secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience.
- Minimum 2 years of union payroll processing experience.
- Solid knowledge and demonstrated experience in QuickBooks Desktop.
- Strong understanding of GAAP rules.
- Excellent analytical & organizational skills and able to handle tight deadlines.
- Strong Communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Strong Excel skills with an ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Diploma/Degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred. Accounting Designation is an asset.
- Experience in the construction industry.
Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
