THE OPPORTUNITY
You will assist in helping build and support the surety business, in Western Canada through working collaboratively with the Tokio Marine Canada surety unit. Our focus is simple - create the best team of professionals in the business. Please note that we are seeking candidates who currently reside in Western Canada or are considering relocating there.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Your responsibilities will include:
Underwriting:

Evaluate new risks through thorough analysis to determine acceptability and pricing.

Analyze financial statements, capacity, collateral and character of new surety opportunities.

Analyze and review projects, approving within given authority, or recommending approval or denial of surety bonds.

Conducting ongoing review and management of surety portfolio, ensuring accounts are up to date with action items being followed up.

Work with surety team with suggestions for improving systems and processes, with focus on continued efficiencies.

Help assist underwriting efforts across country where needed.

Support marketing, legal and claims services when required.
Broker Management and Brand promotion:

Build and manage select broker relationships.
-
Working with surety team in building and implementing broker strategy.

Promoting the Tokio Marine Canada brand, working closely with various business units including ProFin and Commercial Insurance.

Travel to various regions on a regular basis. Participate in various broker and industry events as required.

Our new Surety Underwriter will have:

The ideal combination of education and experience including:

A university degree; Business, Finance or related studies preferred.

Minimum 2 years of experience in Surety or Financial Services, analyzing financial statements.

Capability to manage multiple stakeholders.

A high level of organizational skills and attention to detail .

Demonstrated capability managing multiple priorities simultaneously to meet deadlines and drive for results.

We work in a hybrid model, and you should expect to split your time between working in the office and working remotely, with flexibility based on the role and the business needs.
