We are seeking an experienced and proactive Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance operations within our facility.
For more than 35 years, Recycling Alternative has been a leader in recycling, resource recovery, and sustainability solutions across Metro Vancouver. We are seeking a hands-on and mechanically inclined Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance, repair, and reliability of our fleet, processing equipment, containers, and facility assets.

About the Role
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring our collection vehicles and equipment remain safe, reliable, and operational. This role combines practical mechanical work with preventative maintenance planning, vendor coordination, record keeping, and supporting our operations team.
You will play a key role in minimizing equipment downtime, improving asset reliability, and supporting our continued growth and operational excellence.
Key ResponsibilitiesFleet & Equipment Maintenance
- Perform maintenance and repairs on collection trucks, containers, and warehouse equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and implement timely solutions.
- Perform light fabrication and welding work as required.
- Coordinate repairs with external mechanics and service providers.
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, parts, and consumables.
Preventative Maintenance
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules.
- Maintain service records and equipment histories.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend reliability improvements.
- Support long-term asset replacement planning.
Driver & Operational Support
- Review driver pre-trip and post-trip inspection reports.
- Investigate equipment deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions.
- Provide training and guidance on equipment inspections and proper operation.
- Promote a culture of safety and equipment stewardship.
Vendor & Contractor Management
- Coordinate specialized repairs and external contractors.
- Obtain quotations and manage repair costs.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and service providers.
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain maintenance logs and supporting documentation.
- Assist in developing and implementing maintenance SOPs.
- Provide regular updates and reports to management regarding equipment condition and maintenance activities.
QualificationsTechnical Requirements
- Experience maintaining trucks, heavy equipment, industrial equipment, or fleet assets.
- Mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience.
- Welding and fabrication experience is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and maintenance record keeping.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and maintenance tracking systems.
- Strong attention to detail, with sound administrative & finance skills.
