Duties
A valid Saskatchewan Professional “A” Teaching Certificate is mandatory. Applicants without this certification will not be considered.
- Develop and deliver dynamic lesson plans aligned with provincial curriculum standards across subjects such as mathematics, reading, and writing, while meaningfully integrating Islamic values and perspectives where appropriate.
- Apply effective instructional-design principles to create engaging activities that promote active learning, creativity, critical thinking, and a love of knowledge.
- Incorporate appropriate technology tools, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), to enhance classroom instruction and monitor student progress.
- Adapt teaching strategies to support students with disabilities or special educational needs, ensuring an inclusive, respectful, and compassionate learning environment.
- Regularly assess student performance through formative and summative evaluations and provide constructive feedback that supports academic and personal growth.
- Model and promote Islamic manners and character, including honesty, kindness, patience, respect, responsibility, compassion, and cooperation.
- Maintain effective and respectful communication with students, parents, colleagues, and school administration to build a collaborative, faith-centred educational community.
- Support early childhood education by creating a safe and nurturing classroom atmosphere that encourages curiosity, confidence, social-emotional development, and positive Islamic character.
- Encourage students to practise Islamic etiquette in their daily interactions and help cultivate a strong sense of Muslim identity and responsibility.
- Participate in school activities, Islamic events, assemblies, and initiatives that support the mission and values of Saskatoon Islamic Academy.
Qualifications and Requirement
- A valid Saskatchewan Professional “A” Teaching Certificate is mandatory. Applicants without this certification will not be considered.
- Active registration and good standing with the Saskatchewan Professional Teachers Regulatory Board (SPTRB) are required.
- Previous teaching experience in elementary or early childhood education settings is preferred.
- Experience working with students with disabilities or in special education programs is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to design and deliver engaging lesson plans using effective instructional techniques.
- Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) for delivering educational content and monitoring student progress.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working effectively with students, families, colleagues, and school administration.
- Strong knowledge of core subjects, including mathematics, reading, and writing, with the ability to adapt instruction for diverse learners.
- Commitment to modelling Islamic values, maintaining professional conduct, and supporting the Islamic mission and environment of Saskatoon Islamic Academy.
- Experience providing tutoring or additional instructional support outside regular classroom hours is considered an asset.
