Position Overview:
This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Accountant, located in Mississauga, ON. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, bank reconciliation, preparing financial statements, conducting financial analysis, overview the payables functions and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. Day-to-day tasks include maintaining general ledgers, reconciling accounts, preparing tax returns, and supporting audits. The role also involves budget preparation, forecasting, and providing insights for financial decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and clear backlog transactions efficiently.
- Perform bank reconciliations for 17–20 accounts across multiple entities.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes.
- Prepare and analyze monthly revenue reports and operating statements.
- Review and approve Accounts Payable entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain General Ledger and ensure timely posting of journal entries.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist in cash flow management and forecasting.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
- Collaborate with external auditors and support audit requirements.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support management decision-making.
- Supervise junior accounting staff as needed.
- Optimize processes and recommend improvements for efficiency in accounting operations.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Accounting Principles and Financial Reporting
- Proficiency in Financial Analysis, Budgeting, and Forecasting
- Experience with General Ledger Management and Account Reconciliation
- Skilled in Tax Preparation, Compliance, and Audit Support
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel required
- Self-starter with leadership qualities
