Position: Brewer

About the Role
Strathcona Beer Company is seeking an experienced and motivated Brewer to join our production team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on brewery operations while also having a passion for recipe development, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Working closely with our Brewmaster and Head Brewer, the successful candidate will support all aspects of brewing operations while contributing to the development of new products and small-batch releases. As they grow within the role, they will have the opportunity to lead pilot brews and help shape future beer development for the company.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Brewing Operations
- Assist with all aspects of brewing, fermentation, cellaring, filtration, and packaging.
- Support daily production schedules and brewery operations.
- Maintain accurate brewing, quality, and inventory records.
- Follow and uphold all brewery SOPs, safety standards, and quality procedures.
- Assist with cleaning, sanitation, and preventative maintenance programs.
- Work collaboratively with the production team to ensure efficient brewery operations.
Quality Control
- Participate in sensory evaluations and quality assurance programs.
- Monitor product quality throughout the brewing process.
- Assist in identifying and resolving production issues.
- Maintain detailed production and quality records.
Research & Development
- Support recipe development and innovation initiatives.
- Participate in pilot batches and small-scale product trials.
- Assist in evaluating new ingredients, brewing techniques, and processes.
- Work alongside the Brewmaster to develop seasonal, limited-release, and specialty products.
- Lead small-batch brewing projects at Strathcona North as experience and proficiency grow within the role.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging brewing techniques.
Equipment & Facility Maintenance
- Assist with routine maintenance and troubleshooting of brewery equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe brewing environment.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2-3 years of commercial brewing experience.
- Strong understanding of brewing processes, fermentation, cellar operations, and packaging.
- Experience working in a production brewery environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to lift and move brewery materials and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Forklift certification considered an asset.
- WHMIS and First Aid certifications considered an asset.
- Passion for craft beer and product innovation.

Compensation
- $50,000 - $53,000 annually based on experience.
