We are seeking a VP of Finance and Operations looking to grow into a future CFO/COO with our dynamic company. We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, hardworking and trustworthy individual, someone who is ready to grow with our growing company and partner with our CEO. This individual is likely currently working at a large accounting firm or for a private company and is looking to make a change, to be an integral partner in growing a company. They must be open to doing anything necessary and be willing to learn new skills. This is a very tactical position, you ARE the operations team, you ARE the finance team. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the CEO, the Board and Senior Management Team on all Finance related matters
  • Become an integral part of our dynamic team as you work in collaboration with nearly all Weever Apps business units and contribute to the company’s overall strategic vision
  • Maintain the annual operating budget and perform analysis of the sales forecast, work closely with VP Marketing & Sales
  • Establish and maintain quarterly external reporting requirements
  • Manage and provide support with existing funding programs, both Government and Venture Capital sources
  • Actively seek and apply to new funding opportunities
  • Direct ownership of the audit process, ensuring all audit requirements are fulfilled
  • Responsible for creating, communicating and maintaining all financial and accounting processes and policies to strengthen internal controls
  • Assess risk and ensure all appropriate means of insurance are in place and maintained
  • Manage cash flow across all bank accounts to ensure appropriate short term liquidity.Work closely with the CEO in support of his objective to maximize medium and long term investment returns
  • Manage and comply with all applicable reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Maintain and update the financial model with the monthly financial results
  • Responsible for all accounting records and processes
  • Support the purchasing process as required
  • Run the operations of the business

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Masters/Bachelor degree strongly preferred in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field
  • CPA designation
  • Roll up the sleeves and do whatever it takes to get the job done type of person, with a willingness to learn and grow into a senior leadership role
  • Operations experience or willingness to learn
  • HR experience or willingness to learn
  • Demonstrated technical accounting strength
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) including influencing skills
  • Able to establish a relationship of trust and collaboration with executives and employees, ability to consider cross-functional stakeholders in everything you do
  • Excellent time management, strong attention to detail and committed to meeting deadlines
  • Able to work independently, organize, plan and prioritize
  • Strong team player; able to lead, but also willing to take direction
  • You have demonstrated or have shown great potential for leadership ability
  • Demonstrated strength in project management and organizational skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Additional Consideration Skills:

  • 3+ years in Controller/Assistant Controller role
  • Experienced with QuickBooks and Ceridian software
  • Relevant industry experience

Job Details:

Full time, based at Weever Apps’ main office in Hamilton, ON.Salary and level of involvement in Weever Apps employee stock option plan to be reviewed relative to experience.
