The Wharton Medical Clinic specializes in evidence-based medical management of obesity. It is an internal medicine, specialist clinic that focuses on medical interventions such as medication and bariatric surgery to help patients manage weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Our clinic also supports behavioural change, such as healthier nutrition and increased physical activity as adjuncts to medication and bariatric surgery.
We are seeking a dynamic, passionate Nurse Practitioner (NP), who wants to be part of our multi-disciplinary team in providing care and education to our patients. You will use evidence-informed nursing knowledge, skill, and judgment and work within the NP scope to provide nursing care to meet the needs of patients receiving bariatric services. The NP will provide patient centred care by using the skills of assessment, nursing diagnosis, counselling and health teaching.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario required.
- Current BCLS/HCP certification required.
- Previous NP experience in a community-based primary care an asset; experience working with bariatric patients preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to function to the full scope of nursing practice per the College of Nurse of Ontario.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with patients/clients, families, and other members of the health care team.
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work in response to client/patient needs.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed manner using well developed leadership, critical thinking, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong skill level with computers and proficient in electronic medical record systems.

The position can be mostly virtual from home. There will be some initial training in-person in our Burlington location and/or in-person shifts in our Burlington location as required from time to time by the physician. If needed by NP, office space is available if work from home not possible.

Contract length: 6 months
Pay: $60.00-$68.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
